Thanksgiving dinner in Savannah
I'm meeting family in Savannah for Thanksgiving weekend. Any suggestions on places that will be open Thanksgiving night for a meal? We're not picky, it doesn't have to be Turkey!
Thanks!

Last year we didn't have any family visit and we had only a few months before relocated here, so my husband and I made reservations and ate at the Chart House. The food was pretty good - but couldn't replace homemade! There are a few other places in the city that are open for Thanksgiving.
Here are some links for advertised Thanksgiving dinners of years past:
Chart House Restaurant - Doesn't look like the have their advertisement up quite yet
I know Mrs. Wilkes has dinner -
Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room
The Old Pink House
Lady and Sons

I'd start calling around, now that it's officially November - they will probably start advertising on their websites, if they haven't already.
Good luck!

Cha Bella (on East Broad Street) is wonderful and open on Thanksgiving. Olde Pink House (Reynolds Square at Bryan Street) is also open with less formal dining on lower level and in their new cafe style bar area. You may also check with Alligator Soul (Barnard at Telfair Square), which has begun a delightful lunch -- a real treat. If you want turkey on the run anytime, try a turkey roll up at Rollie Pollie (Barnard at Telfair Square). Typically the Pirates House will be open, but you will want to call ahead. Nice lunch buffet and the feel of ye ole pirates who were once shanghighed from the pub. Two great little inns downtown are Green Palm Inn (President Street at East Broad) and Presidents' Inn (President Street at Abercorn). The cheapest inn in town is the quirky Thunderbird Inn (Oglethorpe Avenue at West Broad) -- call themselves "The Hippest Hotel in Savannah." Have fun!

hi
here is an update..
my sister gave up on red meat, but will eat seafood
my uncle has to watch his salt..
will any of the place above be able to accomodate low salt and non-red meat diets? I've left messages for Paula Deen's place and the Old Pink House..
I love Mrs Wilkes.. but its not exactly friendly to salt and red meat watchers
I am so looking forward to Savannah... I've only been once and I loved the atmosphere and people..

To Bells and all:
Thanks for all the advise. we ended up at Garibaldi's for an excellent dinner. I had the turkey (it was my first Thanksgiving in the US in a few years) but loved the collared greens (I'm afraid to ask how they cook them so tasty). My sister found vegetarian entrees and my uncle found something to accomodate his low salt diet. Wait staff excellent, prices pretty reasonable. All in all it was a good recommendation!
Hope everyone has a nice holiday season! We are loving Savannah... now to find a ghost tour w/c my sister is keen on doing.
