Ok, I'm being a little facetious, but not completely. My contact has been mostly with real estate women, but it seems the Savannah "uniform" is cute little healed shoes, slacks, a top with some kind of glitz on it, and a string of pearls. ..a cute little shell encrusted purse is for bonus points.

Would this be considered the accepted garb for women of a certain age in Savannah? Anything else I should know?

Yes, that's what the real estate women wear. LOL

If you're really wondering, I think you can wear anything that's both tasteful and casual and feel comfortable in most situations. You could probably get away with anything you bought at Chicos or Talbots, too. There's also Jezebel or Gaucho if you're into unfitted linen and other artsy women's wear. If you don't know those stores, find them when you get here. They serve different kinds of Savannah women and all are appropriate for most occasions.

Don't worry about all the glitz. That's not necessary, unless it's just what you like for yourself. The wealthiest and most well-established women in Savannah are often the most understatedly elegant.

Since you're already a pleasant and thoughtful person, you'll have no trouble fitting in once you finally move down here.

Thanks, Ellie. I kind of enjoy the way the women actually try. I've been down on the farm for so long...
Here, the women think they're dressed up if they're wearing an appliqued sweatshirt.

Younger women are more artsy too (than anywhere else I have lived). When my friends go out on the town or just meet up for lunch- there is a heavy emphasis on accessories. A conservative top/leggings or jeans/ scarf (s)/hats and lots of bracelets is the usual outfit.

That;s great...the artsier the better, as far as I'm concerned.
