I am possibly taking a job in Fort Stewart and I am trying to get a feel for the area to see where I can find a quality place to live. I want to find somewhere that is safe #1, reasonable cost for housing #2, close to post so it will be a fairly easy commute #3...Richmond Hill seems to fit all of that. I was looking at a map and Richmond Hill is right off post, but someone mentioned on this board that it's a 25 minutes commute? That doesn't make sense...there is a road that comes right out at Richmond Hill. Any help with this will be great. Also if you want to give me pluses and minuses to Richmond Hill that would be great too. Thanks in advance.

Look at an actual map of Ft. Stewart. It's a long drive to where you'll be working/whatever you do on Ft. Stewart.

Bub Lewis,

I wouldnt say that RH is right off post; its about 20-25 mile drive from middle of RH to a post entrance and can take about 25 min commute. Hinesville is the city right off post and is bigger than RH and has more stores, buisnesses.

Yo, Bub...I'm curious because I also have been thinking for a while about taking a job at Ft. Stewart and moving to Richmond Hill. Are you considering a position with a defense contractor that starts with the letter S?

Easy commute to Richmond Hill. Schools seem to be better than Hinesville, too if that matters.

Statesboro (Bulloch County) is nice as well, but a little farther commute. Very safe, affordable and reasonably priced. Cheaper taxes, too.
