I know a lot about technology but have neither a cell phone or ipad so you have me beat.

Look them up. Reading is why I know a lot about technology.

I generally don't recommend wikipedia but for benign topics like these it's excellent source.

I'll be honest, I don't know how to take this thread. It started out as an "I don't know anything" thread, which is boggling in the first place because if you google "hdtv" the first thing that is listed is a wikipedia entry, explaining what an HDTV is... but now its turning into a woe is me, I have no friends thread? What? I'm so confused

It's okay. Let's not worry about it. I do actually have friends but I'm embarrassed for them to know that I don't know that much about technology. So, let's just ignore the last several posts, shall we?

Obviously, I know what HD stands for. High-Definition. It's not rocket science. I'm giving examples! My goodness.

Dude. It's called google. Google all the terms. Super easy.

Then ask a coworker how his smartphone works. Or like I did with my wife's iphone...pick it up and just play with it. Most tech these days is super-intuitive.

Yep. Okay. Thank you all for all your help!! I'll take that advice. I don't really care about technology but know learning about technology is the wisest thing to do if I want to make it in today's world. Thanks everyone!

Most of this stuff is just logging in.

Quote:
I don't know how to set up netflix with my computer
Login to Netflix. You must pay for an account first, of course.
Browse movies. Hit play.

I don't know how to look up facebook with my phone and then somehow connect that to my computer.
You don't need to know. You go to Facebook. Create an account.
You go to Facebook program on your phone. Login.
It's all tied to you loggin in. You don't DO anything.

I have a computer, a T.V-which doesn't even have cable because I don't know how to set up standard, no-pay cable "digitally",
When you get even basic cable a man in a truck comes out to set it up for you. He hands you the remote and you're watching TV.

and a cellphone that doesn't have any aps except texting.
Ok so you would probably need a smartphone to get Facebook on your phone.

Bottom line: just jump right in! Don't be afraid to try it. You won't break anything.
