I think that the singularity will become mainstream by 2019. That date could be pessimistic. The reason is there is a big budget Hollywood movie coming out on the subject with stars like Johnny Depp and Morgan freeman.
Now this is going to be your typical Hollywood action movie set in the future and while the story line in that sense is predictable what is important is the director has said he got the idea for this film from watching Transcended Man by Ray Kurzweil. By this being a large production film there will be millions of people in the world hearing about the singularity for the first time and even though in real life it wont be as dramatic as in the movie I think could push up the date as to when the singularity becomes main stream by a few years.
The date the movie is set to open is April 18th, 2014.
Josseppie, what's in your crystal ball for upcoming 2014 as far as the Singularity is concerned?
From what I can see it will be a continuation of what we see this year. The paradigm shift will continue to wearable computers with things like Google glasses becoming more widespread. The same is true with medical technology as it will be continue to become smaller and wearable. One example is I read where they will have skin with sensors in it that will be able to monitor people's vital signs. This will be good for people with diabetics as they can use to continuously monitor their blood sugar.
Genetics and biology will continue to advance. I just saw this today and its huge.
From what I can tell we are about 5-10 years out before it hits the general public. We should, also, see some breakthroughs in 3D printers.
The big question mark in my mind about 2014 is how will the movie Transcendence impact the conversation about the singularity? Since this is not information technology its impossible to know. Will the movie come and go and cause little interest by the public or will it finally start a national conversation? As they say stay tuned as it opens in April.
Yeap i read about that as well as NAD enhances the ''Electron Transport Chain'' in the mitochondria's of all cells especially in the muscles (cardiac, skeletal) and infact i've known many weightlifters/bodybuilders over the years who've taken the supplement form NADH and swear that it gives them more strength and endurance although i myself have never taken it as my energy levels still are really good from years of healthy diet, fitness, tons of green tea and every so often a good dark imported lager like '''Bernard Dark''' .

I don't think we will see any huge advancements in this area next year but 5-10 years out, by 2023, we will.
Normally I would agree with you but this movie is about the singularity and could cause it to go main stream next year. 5 years before I had thought even just a week ago. In fact I give it a better then 50/50 chance due to the stars in it.

I think the point is that it wasn't necessary to post 3 different previews about the same movie which isn't even out yet (set for release in mid-April) when once is sufficient.
