A few questions if you don't mind answering, please.

Where did you get that map?
What exactly will end? and how?
Why only the green area on that map?
What makes you think it's that part only?

I'm always surprised by the numbers of people that think "world" meant the same to the ancients as to post-1600 westerners.
Intellectually, most people know that the concept of the Earth as a dirtball in space is relatively recent, yet they don't make the connection that prior to that idea, world could mean the extent of a civilization or tribe.

Somewhere, a while back, I ran across a gear explanation of the Mayan cycles. It was an amazingly simple and elegant way of handling time.

Two hours after the service, I was at Lowe's when I happened to run into the pastor, who had a window shade in his hand. He told me how he'd decided to move up from the good grade to the better, more expensive one, which had a 10 year warranty. I told him he had wasted his money. He gave me a befuddled look as I turned and walked away. It's now been over 10 years since that incident, the warranty on his window shade has since expired as has his hysterical claim- a claim which sent our family out of his church. These frauds should be exposed for what they are- parasites upon society.
I'm still laughing as I type this ...

I had a similar encounter while in high school. A classmate told me that, according to her church pastor, the world was going to end in three years. Ran into her the next day and she told me she was applying for student loans to pay for college. I asked her why she was bothering when she wouldn't be around to accept her diploma. He gave me a strange look, too. Probably the same kind as you got from the pastor. That incident happened 40 years ago. We're still here and I'm not sure if the classmate ever went to college. I certainly hope so.

I'd still like to know what time zone we're talking about. It would be helpful in packing my stuff for the afterlife.
