Why would any one leave a virtual world where you could live any lifestyle you chose with any one you chose to live it with.?
Perhaps going to work to pay for it might be an inconvenience..
My wife and I always joke about this.
Spoiler
It's basically the plot to Inception.

I had a tough time putting this post together. I think my holoprogramming is a bit screwed up today...

I enjoyed your post. And I got a chuckle out of the expectation of ending the program. I do wonder where you would end up if it worked.

Mine was a combination of things.

A dig at religion. Well, not religion in general, but those who think their religion is the only religion, therefore only those who believe in their religion can understand their creators words. Blah, blah, blah. Besides, if the program has been running as long it needs to have to put us in it at this time, with the history we have, it's very, very unlikely that the Creator of the program spoke English.

A chuckle at your tale of the (so-called) gay man who is dating a girl you know after informing you of his "gayness". Dude needs to grow a couple. What a weasel way out of a relationship! (If there was one) And a bit of sadness that you have lost friends. But do remember that without death we would not value life as highly as we do. Thus the comment about built-in restraints. Without such the program would simply run amok and not be able to remain viable.

I'm not telling why you picked it (Did you?) because I don't know.

I will admit to having a warped sense of humor that most people don't get. Mrs. Tek often finds herself explaining it to others because it can be very obtuse. So if you don't get it don't feel bad - most people don't.

I know the feeling.

Thanks.... This is what I would hope for:

There is a little bit of joking going on here and perhaps some truth.... Maybe a little to much truth but that's ok.

I am agnostic so I don't get any religion. I do agree its so unlikely they speak English and even if its close they would make it so we cant get out much like the characters in Star Trek. Unless, and I have thought about this, I went in a hollow deck and a glitch happened and I am stuck in and they cant get me out and are trying. (I hope they keep trying !)

First off thank you!

Well for now. I think once we reach the singularity our "normal" will be different. I am surprised we are getting a hollow deck before a direct link to the internet and VR that way to be honest.

If I did I made a mistake

Yep. Just plug it straight into my veins. I think if such technology ever became readily available/affordable for the masses, society would pretty much fall apart, hahaha.
