Is an xbox considered a "set top box"? I used to use it to connect to a win 7 Media Center PC when I had cable. It worked as a DVR, recording and playing back. Now that I've moved to the sticks I have Dish Network...and that doesn't play nicely with Media Center.

So....I've got 2 laptops, a desktop...another laptop with a bad hard drive--all running Win 7. I have an iPhone, an Ipad, and an Ipad 2. My kid went running down the sidewalk, tripped and fell....shattering the ipad's screen. Not sure if I want to fix it or just buy a replacement....or if I can even justify another one.

Guess what?! I am the black sheep in here! LOL! I have one desktop PC and that's it! Seriously, my situation does not apply to most people. I am paralyzed below the waist, hence, I am not mobile. So I just do not have a use for a laptop;especially when I can get a desktop machine just as powerful for a lower price. The biggest benefits of a laptop is for portability. That issue is moot with me. So when someone who knows me well, strongly suggested I get a laptop because you can move it around and it is just as powerful as desktops, I was like "Why?!" I am not taking it anywhere! Anyway, as for the other gadgets, I feel that without much mobility, the desktop PC can provide me everything and more that would be offered on any tablet or smartphone. (Though technically I do have a "smartphone," I just use it to make cell calls, I do not use whatever small number of apps that the prepaid Net10 phone offers). However, I am considering an iphone or maybe even some tablet that could give me internet access when the power goes out. I was without power for 5 days during Irene, 5 days during the October Storm and 7 days during Sandy. Stuck in my home, in a wheelchair, I was going nuts! So I was thinking something with 4G internet service would be good for me when the power goes out, but not the cell towers. However, for now, the desktop PC is more than enough for my needs.

2 laptops, and a desktop that needs a new power supply. And a smartphone, which I forgot to vote for in the poll.

Not sure in which category to put the ReplayTV or XBMC media box, and a Roku will be arriving soon. And what about my Sony eInk reader (PRS-350)?

I guess I currently have two desktops, three laptops, an iPhone, and a Nokia 770 used to run PalmOS apps via GarnetVM (really) still in use, and my wife adds a laptop and an Android phone. I have a dozen or so other PCs downstairs in various states of repair. Most don't count anymore. Oh, and what would a Buffalo LinkStation running Linux in ROM be considered?
