While you're hooting and hollering about it stop and tell us how much rain you had this year.

Be careful which dust bowl you wish for...

I find it hysterical that very few people realize that the Dust Bowl was mainly created by human activities; then many people deny current climate change because of course man's endeavors could never cause climate change.

My favorite is everytime it snows someone invariably says that proves there is no climate change.

A couple of the locations we are considering for retirement are coastal. We now have to factor in the rising ocean levels. We don't want to be "underwater" in 20 years,

The rise or fall in the sea level at a fixed point is measured in mm and it's been constant since they have been records whether it's going up or down. Move to Crescent City, Cal. You'll have more beach front in 20 years:

Sea Levels Online - Mean Sea Level Trend

Most of the graphs on that site indicate an upward trend because it is going up however it's nothing new and is constant and predictable. Where you have levels going down as indicated above the ground is rising faster than than the sea and other variables. This is about the oldest graph available and on some of the most stable ground.

Sea Levels Online - Mean Sea Level Trend

We're in an upward trend right now where the sea rise is accelerating but again nothing new. Be careful interpreting the following graph, the linear trend is the flat line but does indicate the rise as the one above.
Quote:
Linear mean sea level trends were calculated in overlapping 50-year increments for stations with sufficient historical data. The variability of each 50-year trend, with 95% confidence interval, is plotted against the mid-year of each 50-year period. The solid horizontal line represents the linear mean sea level trend using the entire period of record.

So you can listen to Al Gore or look at the data, take your pick.

My favorite is every time there is a storm that has historical counterparts the media and AGW kooks blame it on global warming.

I still have a couple of flowers in my yard and a lot of green plants. I've never seen anything like this. I miss the snow but on the other hand our utility bills are pretty low.
