Be it the new Firefox cell. MS, Apple, Google android or some other total OS w/applications on board.

Ok, this/your cell phone is plugged into a cradle (at home) where you have your large monitor, keyboard & mouse (if needed) and you just pickup your cell and out the door you go --- all info is with you.

What do you think??

In time the desktop will go the way of the dinosaur as will the smart phone. Its only a matter of when not if.

The technology is certainly there. Is the desire/need there?

Are people going to be happy with Android OS or iOS for all their computing needs? Or will Windows OS be on phones? Simple questions but logistically, there's nothing to say what you wrote can't happen - though people can interface to their home PCs now anyway if they wanted to.

how do you run a desktop high end Intel I-7 CPU and say 2-GeForce GTX 670 graphics card in SLI without having a massive battery and a bunch of fans and heat sinks heck my MOBO allows me to have 64GB of DDR3 Ram can fit two more GPU's for Quad SLI on the MOBO but that is where $$$ and how far I want to take my PC for home and/home office use.

I mean a phone is not big enough and batteries are not powerful enough to give you any serious power for Video editing in HD my android OSx smart phone and old model I-pad-2 are fine for Wi-Fi and chatting and a laptop would be the best way to go for the best bang for the buck in terms of power OSX and what you can do with it.

You won't run those exact parts... but you'll run equivalent hardware (sans fans). Today's phones are much smaller, much faster, and contain more memory than phones of 10 years ago. Why do you feel that this trend will not continue?

Same as horses vs cars. People still ride horses, and most expensive horses cost as much as most expensive cars. Many will still use desktops for extreme gaming, engineering, data crunching etc.

A lot of people don't want to look at a tiny screen, including graphic designers, architects, etc. or anyone who is farsighted, wants to see things in detail, or who doesn't want to bend over for hours.

While I'm more in agreement with PCs (or a variation) not going away, it is simple to display a tablets contents on an HDTV...

I like the interactive TV experience but still find Smart phones scenes and the touch screens hard to type on that they are not like a real keyboard that laptops and PC have.

I like new laptop convertibles where a it can be used like a traditional laptop or fold into a tablet that is a touch screen heck only thing that sucks is the price where a traditional laptop and decent tablet can be bought for less.

I think the all in one PC is not going to do well since the prices are $1300-$2799 and I could build one heck of a decent Home PC for $2800

Well smart phone sales are already starting to taper off as reported by both Apple and Samsung. Tablet are still fairly new. Mnay use tablets now instead of lap top for what they do.
