I am slightly basing this scenario of the movie "John Carter". In the movie "John Carter", John Carter found a cave and shot an alien and discovered an alien artifact that teleported him all the way to Mars.

That being said, if you were to discover an Alien artifact lying on the ground in a cave or in a forest or somewhere in the wilderness while hiking and if it teleported you to an Earth-like alien planet in a galaxy billions of light years away from this galaxy that we live in?

Personally, I believe that that would be the best thing that would ever happen to me! and if I were to encounter other intelligent species that were friendly toward me, I would be able to befriend them and possibly explore the universe with them! That would be so exciting!!!

Think of the money I could make - writing phony books about my experiences, appearing regularly on Coast to Coast, and eventually selling the thing so some zillionaire for billions!

It appears as though the Science and Technology forum has turned into the Science Fiction forum...

Would be great to explore a different planet. It would personally be a lifelong dream.

But... reality is not like hollywood sci-fi. Stepping into a "portal" and going to an extraterrestrial environment exposed with no protection would likely result in death.
Things like air pressure, particular mix of elements in atmosphere (both types & percentages), likelyhood of germs or things that could cause deadly allergic reactions.

I do realize some of you feel like this, but since there is no science fiction forum here, this place is where threads like this belong. Remember you don't actually have to read/contribute to the threads you feel aren't interesting, you can ignore them
