Kewl !!! When I read the title of the article I figured it was some kind of water vapor collection system, and that it would be useful only in placed where there is a lot of water vapor content in the air. See, I'm as smart as them MIT boys and girls!
Seriously, I admire the genius of the system. A whole lot cheaper than building damns and reservoirs and canals, even if without the benefits of inexpensive hydro generated electricity.
Here in California, extensive systems like this could go a long way towards augmenting our water systems and needs, but alas, I fear the enviro whacks would fight such things every inch of the way because of potential harm to the environment and the natural beauty of nature.
Thanks for posting. I love reading about new solutions to old problems, especially if those solutions are simple.
PS I wonder if the inventors got yheir inspiration from watching any of those old survivor movies, where someone builds some kind off collector out of leaves and sticks and ends up with drinking water overnight.
