Robots of the future could kill off humans unless they're taught the value of human life, Amsterdam-based engineer Nell Watson says, warning that their artificial intelligence could lead them to conclude that the best thing for the human race would be to end its suffering.

"The most important work of our lifetime is to ensure that machines are capable of understanding human values," said Watson at the 2014 Conference by Media Evolution in Sweden earlier this month, reports The Daily Mail. "It is those values that will ensure machines don't end up killing us out of kindness."

Robots will not kill off humans but to keep up we will have to merge with them, trans humanism. That will mean a end to humans as we are today.

People makes mistakes.
People makes robots.
Robots make mistakes.

Sun will die.
Unless people and robots live in space everywhere, people and robots have the same fate as Earth/Sun.

Like everything else we make, their warranties will run out, recalls will escalate, parts will become unavailable, and a huge robot scrap industry will arise....long before they can take over the world.

Robots will do what they are programed to do; plain and simple. If programed to kill that is what they will do; but not on their own. Kind of like the smart nuts who go around bombing because they think technology is taking over.

Robots will not whipe out humanity but we will have to merge with computers to keep up, transcend our biology, or trans-human. So humans as we know them today will not be around after a few decades.

Why do you believe humans "have to" do anything of the sort? Last time I checked we still lived in a free country where such things cannot be forced upon the populace. Are you planning on moving to Iran or something?

Robots don't make mistakes, they are perfect. People make mistakes and robots reveal our mistake in its design.

Robots can do the job, they can also can be teached what is wrong or right or in between...

but Robots cannot be teached to become innovators. Human are still the innovators.

In the future, most of the jobs will be done by robots many low skilled workers will be displaced.
