Alongside most escalators, there are round metal things every few feet, near the handrail. What are those round cylindrical things??

I couldn't find this through Google, it's the kind of trivial thing I thought would be there.

Those are for tying up your horse before getting on the escalator. Everyone know horses hate escalators.

They are there to prevent you from sliding packages up or down the escalator while riding it.

I always thought they were to stop people, not packages, from sliding down, but same difference.

I think you're right, but I couldn't find one thing about those round things on the internet. I did find questions about the bristles near your feet which are to stop your clothes from getting caught there.
