I was reading a scientific article this morning which show what happens when a paperclip made of Nitinol is twisted out of shape and then dropped into a glass of hot water. The heat causes it to return to its original shape again. Fascinating to watch.

The BBC article can be seen here: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-3274926

I used nitinol (nickel titanium) as an artificial muscle in some robotics projects.

I decided to look that up on the web and found some fascinating applications using Nitinol. Muscle Wire: Motor-less Mechanical Motion

I guess one day, scientists will be able to make spare parts for humans to replace organs like hearts and lungs so that we can all live 60 or 70 years longer.

It's only temporary. Once you made about 20 posts, the links will parse automatically.

Thanks for the Wikipedia link anyway.
