I have very little knowledge about technology.

I am wondering if I can use 1(one) wireless keyboard and mouse with my TV & computer?

Looking to switch back and forth .....from using my computer and monitor.... to using computer &TV as monitor. This may be daily or every couple of days. Can this be done?

Guess I start with HDMI cable? Do I need a Kvm switch like computers?
TV & computer about 5 feet apart.

Have noticed people looking to switch keyboards/mouse from computer to computer but not this.

Thank you for any help you can offer

Are you talking about one computer or two?

I have a desktop that displays on the TV. I click the TV into "PC" mode and it is good to go. It is hooked up with a cordless keyboard and a wired webcam. It gets its signal wirelessly from the router. It connects to the TV with a VGA cable.

The other desktop displays on a conventional monitor. It has a wired large print keyboard. It is hard wired to the printer, a flat-bed scanner and the router.

No need to move anything.

OK, as I understand, you want to use one good monitor as a computer Monitor or as TV Monitor.

On any good TV, there is a way to choose the source of the signal
On your remote you might have a small icon/button that can choose which item is providing the signal.

Choose what ever you like. HDMI is the best way.
Just make sure the cable you connect with should be at least 1.5 times longer than the distance between you TV and computer.

OR ...

I misunderstood and you want to control your TV with your keyboard and mouse.
If so, I have no answer since I do not see why the need,
to control a TV with your keyboard and mouse ?

The keyboard and mouse have nothing to do with the display. If you are switching the video output from your computer monitor to the television as monitor, then the input devices won't care.

I think what is confusing some people is that some TV's are smart TV's or they have a controller Roku Box, Fire TV, or some other input. In that case you often have the option of using a wireless keyboard as it is less time consuming than using a remote. For instance you might want to search for all movies starring "Gregory Peck" and it is easier to type the words "Gregory Peck" into a keyboard instead of using a remote to pick one letter at at time: G..r...e.. etc.
