Geeks will love it. They'll no longer have to deal with real women with actual personalities.

HAhahahahaha.

I love a good laugh while I enjoy my coffee on a Saturday morning while I relax on my patio!

No, robots will not replace people in love, other than some rather small, not mentally healthy subset of people who are incapable of functioning "normally" in society and with the opposite gender. With that in mind, I am sure there will be plenty of resounding "yes they will" replies in this forum!

This is why you can't have anything nice, hc.

Me personally, I'd rather go the "Weird Science" route.

Davecat, 40, has shunned 'organic women' to marry synthetic doll | Daily Mail Online

I guess for some the requirements are even less.

I know its just a movie but what do you guys think?
Can a robot who looks like a real human have a real relationship with a human?
A robot replacing human love is like a GED in place of a HS diploma. A GED is a "good enough diploma" that fulfills a need of some people and they end up happy with. A doll would fulfill the needs of some good enough, hell I may consider it myself.

I've seen cases where nobody is an improvement over the "love" of a spouse, so a robot would just be a bonus. Face it, a lot of what passes for "love" in relationships is kindness toward another person just to get what they want from the other. (sex, money, social position, children.)

To the original question, yes, I believe a human can convince themselves of anything including being in love with a robot or even Suri. People have already convinced themselves that their pets are more important than their own children.
