You haven't been paying attention. Its been proven that their employees did exactly that with out authorization od any kind. Its folks like you that give them the power, because you think they are honest just because they are working for the Government. Good luck with that.
First of all, NSA uses computers that log calls that contain certain phrases and words. There isnt anyone sitting in front of a switchboard tied into the telephone companies or cell providers plugging in to random calls. Knowing that Joe Blow has to pick up a jug of milk on the way home from work would not be very productive towards their Mission which is National security.
Yeah. I am sure they are very interested in my phone conversations, emails, browsing history. Boy, they sure could make a great case out of all of it. I can see the headlines now "Florida Man Indicted On Conspiracy Charges - Making Lunch Plans With Other Conspirators"

How so? We have someone saying that the NSA/government is only trying to find terrorists and aren't actually concerned with the lives of regular citizens. Can someone really be that naive? If you believe everything the government says, then I don't know what to tell you.
There are quite a few posting here who think they are more important than they are. This is shown by the fact that they feel they are of such import that the feds are following their every move when in reality, the feds don't know or care about them, their lives, and their actions one whit.
Talk about a bloated sense of self-importance.
