I have long disagreed with the conventional view that we are here because the dinosaurs died. I believe we could have evolved and existed along side the dinosaurs and, in time dominated over them.

Probably. Our ancestors were already competing for resources against mammoths, sabertooth's, cave bears...

The other thing they got wrong is that T.rex was more probably a scavenger and not a predator: having those vestigial forearms would be a pretty poor hunting strategy when attacking a victim flailing, kicking and biting back. Boxers don't last long when they lead with their chins.
T.rex had that long, bulky tail to counter balance his big upper body when leaning over to eat carion.

Mammalian predators evolved long canines strategically spaced to match the jugulars/ carotids of their prey. T.rex had plenty of time to evolve the same, but didn't. ??? It may not be as obvious as you think.

But they're not saying he couldn't run because they're bulky and ponderous. They're saying they couldn't run because their bones couldn't support their weight at speed.
