By chemically analysing the minute droplets of sweat on a fingerprint, science can tell what substances have been handled or eaten recently.

New fingerprint technology is coming.

New fingerprint technology that can profile a criminal's "lifestyle" could soon be admissible in court.

It's capable of detecting traces of drugs, blood, alcohol, condom lubricants, hair and cleaning products and other substances “of forensic interest”, researchers say, and could help investigators learn much more about a criminal’s activities, just from a fingerprint.

Although this technology is probably not yet in the form of a portable machine, this wont be far off and will soon be in airports to analyse the fingerprints of all of us criminals. (After all, the governments are treating us all like criminals, so why not?)

So, think of this as you go anywhere where there may be a risk of terrorist or mad-gunman attack, and these days, that is everywhere - from schools to the local shopping malls.

I think at this level of detail, we should be asking how much of the sweat on the fingerprint was contaminated by the environment? The chemicals in the air or the chemicals from the places recently visited. For example, if you have been on a bus or in a lift, or any other public place, why should these chemicals on your fingerprint be uniquely yours?

Just going about in the world, we handle everything and pick up germs, chemical traces etc from those various contacts. We are getting to be like a dog sniffing in the wind... smelling all kinds of smells which tell us about the world we live in, but we have to be super-discerning and we have to be able to narrow down the information to what is relevant to our current situation (the crime scene, or whatever).
