The sound environment of a car does not merit any particular effort to bring in high quality sound. Do not be concerned unless the media will also be played in a well designed studio environment. Too much background noise in a car.
CDs are not a good portable sound medium. Better you should create a file on a external hard drive system and copy that to a USB chip.
My reason: two years ago on the way out to my car after the race at Charlotte NC I found a lost, thick folder of CDs that someone had put together from records and other sources of music of several genres. That was a lot of effort to put into a stack of disks that ended up in the dirt after a long weekend trip.
Sure hope they had a backup.
I agree, there are good reasons why CD players are vanishing from cars. But it is an option, and OP specifically said s/he is clueless. You don't have to have much of a clue to pop a CD into a CD player.
Are you saying that you burned copies of published CDs that had eventually mechanically warped and the copies onto new, blank CDs did not have the warps? And you were surprised?? Or disappointed???
Or did the process of copying your existing CDs cause the originals to flatten out?

Windows media player will burn CDs for you. You can even load several CDs and make a CD with a mix of songs from different CDs.
when you say the original CD was warped, do you mean it skipped on some tracks? Maybe your car stereo is more sensitive to damage than the device you used to make the copy.
My car has a CD player and an audio input, but not a USB port that worked with the radio. So I had to plug the MP3 player into both the audio input AND the USB port so it would stay charged. Too many cables, I just use CDs.
This can be a very time consuming process. Rip to WMA lossless, this is not compressed and will not cause any loss in quality. You these as sources, if you need MP3's for example you can create copies as MP3 using a batch converter. If in the future there is some other format you can always go back to your WMA lossless files and make copies for that.
+1; but i'm curious, why the wma recommendation above flac. isnt flac more widely popular ?
I use a 32gig flash drive to play my music in the truck when I get tired of local radio or Sirius. I've been told it won't read anything bigger than a 32gig, but I've yet to try it.
This is limitation of the FAT32 format such sticks up to 32GB are commonly formatted with. The player would need to support exFAT or NTFS for anything larger.
I have so many and would love to hear them in my car. I noticed when I burned before that warped CDs no longer had the warps on the burned copy. How did that happen?
What kind of audio system to you have in the car?
What do you man by warps? Do you mean physically warped like vinyl?

I still play CDs in my car, and of course at home. The iPod/iPheun is great for longer drives where I don't want the distraction of changing discs. But CD will never be a format of *my* past.
I don't even bother anymore. I use Google Play Music and get %99.99 of everything I've ever heard or probably will hear. Converting from CDs is more trouble than it's worth. And FWIW, the only CDs I've ever seen warp were left in the back window of a car. What happened to yours?
