i have a raspberry-pi ($35) hosting pictures and videos of my daughter to my family (10 users.

i use noip.com as a dns service ($0 a month) and my i.s.p. is cable internet ($50 a month).

i create a webpage for each birthday/recital/party/... and ssh in whenever the server is down. (free for me -- $70,000 a year web programmer).

to scale up to a million users i guess multiply by 100,000 or so ?

i would start with a few p.o.c. basement servers and scale up with demand; instead of, trying to swallow the whole project on day zero.

Ah.

Well, best of luck with that. Oh, and talk to a good law firm specializing in liability, slander and libel, too. YT doesn't "censor" because AOC took over the company.

A service provider including a web site through various laws is shielded from nearly all actions of their users; libel/slander, copyright infringement, etc. Without these laws a site like even this one would be impossible to manage. Youtube or any site with user generated content is not considered the "publisher".

Doesn't stop the suits, C&Ds and other endless legal repercussions that need to be addressed. Especially if it's to be a "too radical for YouTube" site.

You could be paying upwards of $30k a month for the amount of data being transferred for couple of terabytes a month for legally registered website..

If you think it's easy to do and host it at your house on some shared ISP like Comcast or Verizon. The min they found out you are hosting a streaming site they will cap or kill your connection.

To legally do something like youtube you would need a hosting service that will charge you for hosting the data and the bandwidth costs.

I did a cost analysis for a client to host business data in the cloud and it would cost them $50k a month for hosting 9 Terabytes of data and servers to run website and database servers to handle the large amount of data transfers.

This is not a fixed cost, some months you may use more some months you use less. It's all metered.

This is where Microsoft and Amazon makes the big bucks.

this seems to be similar scale as metacafe and according to wikipedia they launched in 2003 with $3,000,000 in initial v.c. funding (adjust for inflation).

What about a few thousand content creators and and 25 million users?

Smal warehouse of servers and a group of tech employees to run it.

Couple million needed just to start and 100,000 a month to operate.
are you gonna' create redundant routers/switches/hubs/... strategically placed throughout the country or planet to reduce latency; or, will you contract with a c.d.n. like akamai (only someone who worx there would be able to estimate) ?

The OP isn't really asking a serious technical question. He wants a turnkey price for a global political platform that will instantly have millions of viewers, but is hazy about every aspect of this undertaking except getting his terribly censored and suppressed viewpoint out there.

I suggest billboards. They're pretty cheap these days.

Malarkey...

Not my viewpoints. Conservative commentators, political comedians, and political content creators are being censored 9 to 1....and you know it

May the Force be with you. Also, several million in seed money and a full roster of people who actually know what they're doing.

There is absolutely nothing stopping you from creating a website with all the features you need; you might (want to) pay for commercial-grade hosting in the $100's rather than nickel-and-dime shared hosting. Open your doors, raise your banners, and see if you ever need more than one hosted, leased server. If that.
