Kind of a cool article i was reading on Discover magazine about how our bodies are a living ecosystem of trillions of living microbes that we share with and most never effect us negatively. We have bacteria that live in our intestines, teeth, tongue and that covers our entire skin and body. We have about 8% of our genome is made up of viral DNA from our ancient ancestors and most of us are infected with the herpes virus only to never know it's in us.

Just wanted to pass along for those who never knew this .

I was surprised to read that 75% of human DNA is shared by other mammals: He explains that "the finding that about 75% of human genes are well conserved across mammals is striking. The bovine genome gives us further insight into human biology, allowing us to highlight the loss or gain of certain gene families in hominoids.

I also was surprised to read in your posted aticle that we are genetically closer to cows than mice or rats as maybe in the future new drug clinical trials will be performed in cows and not lab rats or mice that is currently practiced.
