Wondering If Anyone Has Heard Of The Technology Of Some How Turning Rock Salt In A Pool So One Doesn't Have To Constantly Purchase Chlorine To Keep A Pool Clean.
I know there are non-chlorine pools. I believe the information I heard was that it can't be a public pool, and like less than 10 people have to be using it, for it to be safe.
Where did you hear or read this deeds. Would it be put in the Chlorinator or would it have to be modified for this. Some pools are using the Oxygen Based Systems and not Chlorine or other chemicals.
I have a friend that has a salt water pool in Arizona, and he likes the system that was installed. If you think about it, salt is a mixture of Sodium and Chlorine, so basically, it's still chlorinated, just in a different fashion. He buys rock salt to treat his pool instead of having to use chlorine and the other chemicals that are often necessary in a traditional pool. I've gone swimming in his pool, and didn't notice a big difference in the water, except that it smelled salty compared to a regular pool. Basically, it's like a large water softener system for the pool, and is a stand alone unit. It's not something that can just be added to a regular pool.
I have some friends who have one of these. This method is called a "salt water pool" treatment. You can do a web search for that and find that it has pros and cons.
The biggest con is that the equipment to treat your pool this way is expensive compared to chlorine treatment. My friend paid about $10,000 just for the treatment system and the computer to run it. There were also some references in the links I found to the salt harming nearby plants.
The biggest pros are that the water is much less chlorinated and the consumable supplies (softener salt) are cheaper.

Research salt chlorine generators for swimming pools.
We had one. It was easy. Just dump the salt rock in the tank and it keeps the pool chlorinated. You could probably google search it and find out more info.

wow that is extremely high.
an installation that expensive wouldn't be for the typical pool in the 20k-40k gallon range.
i own an electrical contracting business, and we install about 25 of these systems a year (we install the automation controls, connect the valve actuators and chlorinator cells)
the chlorinator cell costs anywhere from $500-$1000, and the control panel will run around $800-$1500.
the average pool will only need one chlorinator cell. I think we've done two this year that required multiple cells, but those pools were well into the six-figure range.
