Difficult question re: TVs/computers
Hiya,
We have now been here in St-Louis for some time, coming from the UK originally, because of work.
It happens that we are now looking at buying and stay in St-Louis.
We have furniture to bring over.
Would a TV and a computer form the UK work here?

I think you'll be okay with the tv and computer. What are the makes and models? I'd bet most are manufactured in asia so I think you'll be alright. Although now that I think about it. Aren't outlet's different than ours overseas?

Amazon.com: electrical outlet converter
one of these might be what you need but you should probably confirm with an electrician.

Hi, thank you.
The TV was fairly expensive, with a sound system and the make (of the sound system at least, can't remember the TV) is Bosse.
I will look at those converters, for both the TV and the computer. Thank very much once again.
In fact, thinking about it, I was also wondering about the arial... will it fit the one in the usa for the cable?

You should bring them both over, I'm sure you can find someone here to help you. I don't believe aerial sockets are the norm in the states though but an electrician should be able to help you. Or you can ask some UK transplants on another board. We don't get many people from the UK in STL. = )

Yes, thanks, I just need to know if it is worth it. Appararently they can do it in the UK; it is not too expensive; it is more a story of different fuses inside rather than just adaptors... it is in fact really complicated.

Are British/European TVs using the same broadcast standards?
Back in the days of analog, you couldn't use european specced TVs in the states.
