If a major earthquake hits California soon, well... that just wouldn't be good for anyone.

Well, first of all you have to believe in the theory of plate tectonics, if you believe, than you will know that 'the big one' can occur at any second. It's just a matter of time.

Yeah I'm sitting on top of one right now. I'm pretty certain if we had a sizable quake here there wouldn't be much left standing. At least it will be a new experience...

I feel really REALLY bad about this, but it WOULD be good for some of us.
I am a Civil Engineer that studied out in Cali, and I really liked it out there. But the prices, and fear of an impending quake (as well as family being on the East Coast and me having no $$!!!!) brought me back home where I have been for the past 15 years.
A quake might be the very thing that would give me both the opportunity to go over and start work, but also a bit of security in the fact that the stress in the fault line has been majorly relieved.
I hope that as few people as possible are really hurt by this, but the stress is not going to magically dissappear. It has to hit sometime, and the longer it waits, the bigger it can be.......

I don't know. I just clicked on it and the earthquake forecast clicking place and got the coolest
map so I thought it was kind of neat. Maybe not scientific like the official geologic
web site maps showing hazard areas. Actually, this mystic map follows pretty close to
the actual official hazard maps.
