Default Using digital converter box, still NO channels...HELP!

I have a non-digital TV in the bedroom. Antenna mounted on the roof, recieved all the basic local channels (before the digital transition), no problem. I plugged in the (government) digital converter box, plugged in, antenna into the box, cable from the box to the 'antenna in' on the tv, NO channels! I've tried switching the converter box from channel 3 and channel 4, NOTHING.

Anyone else having this problem?

Also, I have a digital big-screen TV in the living room, another (different) antenna mounted outside...I can get ABC, CBS, and Fox (not NBC unfortunately...live out in the country). However, my old-school VCR will not pick up ANY of these channels. Does this mean I have to buy a new VCR or DVR or whatever, to be able to recieve and then record those local channels? In other words, is my old VCR now useless? (other than playing old VCR tapes).

thanks for any advice.

Your old VCR has an old analog tuner. It requires a converter box.

There is still one more step to installing your converter box. Set the switch back to channel 3, then tune your TV to channel 3. Turn everything on, and you should at least see that the converter is connected to the TV.

Use the remote for the converter to find the menu. Somewhere in there it will say scan channels, or installation. The converter has to program itself to find all of your local channels before you can see them.

Bottom line is have the converter scan for channels.
