When I think of how amazing ants are, I always come back to this video. The first time I saw it I was simply stunned.

Yep, I also remember seeing the same thing. It was an incredible amazing piece of engineering. Were'nt those the leaf cutters who built those chambers for farming the fungus they eat ???

The San Diego Wild Animal Park has a rainforest display in a huge inside of several domed green house structures. It has an elaborate stream system which empties into a small pond. In the middle of the pond there is a large island where the cut and place fresh braches every day. There is a fabricated concrete vine that snakes around through the trees with pins keeping it separate and from touching anything else. Ants follow the vine to the pond, they cut leaves and take them back to the nest. The pins have that usual sticky ant control substnace to keep the ants on track. Otherwise they's probably defoliate the entire green house environment.

The best time to visit this particular spot at the wild animal park is in March when all the numerous species of butterflies and moths hatch. It's incredible to have all of these beautiful things flying all around you, even landing on you. Hummingbirds are everywhere. That place I literally could spend hours in.
