Default Neotropical fossils found in mining pit

Here's an interesting article from October 16, 2009.

"Neotropical fossils found in mining pit" - Northern Columbia coal mine pit.

Neotropical fossils found in mining pit - UPI.com

I never think about how rare it is that many tropical plant and other animals fossils are rare finds in the tropics themselves. We commonly hear of tropical fossil items found in polar, temperate and desert regions of the planet, but as they said, mostly historical data is from pollen finds. How in the world would you identify a fossil pollen grain anyway.

Anyway, they mentioned something about a 45 foot python found and it's called "Titanoboa". Here's a scale animation i found.
