See all that green plant material around it? What does that mean to you?

EMFs is not a buzzword. Electromagnetic fields are part of life on Earth and anywhere else. If you have EVER used a cellphone, you have put an EMF generator inches from your brain. If you have ever used a computer, you have EMFs from the screen, keyboard. If you have ever used an electric stove, you have used a device that has more EMF radiation.

I won't go into electrical theory, other than to say that radiated fields follow the inverse square law. Look it up on your own. Then come back and report your findings and modified concerns.

The metal box will contain most, if not all of the EMF.

I thought transformers usually took the shape of something more animate like a car, truck or plane, this must be something new so they are more difficult to detect - if the EMF's were too high I suspect it would make them too easy to find so I would think they would be quite low. All the same, if it is a Decepticon stray away, if it is an Autobot you should be good to go.

I think if you wear a tinfoil hat, you wlll be protected.

Take a little transistor radio outside, tune it to an AM station, and set it down on the box. See if it interferes with the radio frequency signals. If it doesn's, you have nothing to worry about. If it does, then take the radio inside and and hold it up against the door of your circuit breaker box. See if it does the same thing.

How to Detect Dangerous Levels of Electromagnetic Fields | eHow.com

If you are concerned about EMF's, your TV and your computer are much more present dangers. Is there a laptop within 10" of your gonadal tissue at the moment? The capacitors, transformers, circuit boards inside (not to mention the wireless router over there) are subjecting your body to much, much more no-see-ums than the big green box out in the yard.

My favorite part of the eHow link was the last little bit about how your TriField meter can moonlight as a paranormal investigation tool and that ghosts also create EMFs.
