How are bugs in King County? Do they seem to be a problem in the homes? I'm most concerned with cockroaches, especially given the climate.

I've never seen a cockroach in 25 years. Mostly problems with spiders and carpenter ants.

I second that. Never saw a roach there in 25 years. Plenty of spiders, though.

I agree with the past two posts!

Some people may complain about the weather/climate here but it seems to really help preventing things like Roaches, Scorpions, Alligators, Deadly fire ants etc.

People in Florida for one example have to worry about HUGE flying roaches, alligators in some water areas, as well as deadly fire ants. In Arizona, they have to deal with scorpions, and deadly spiders. (Not trying to offend those places since I like things about those states but making a point) People there have to make sure to keep their houses clean all the time it seems or they attract big roaches, spiders, scorpions things into the house...

Since I lived here in February 2010, I have NEVER seen a roach. I had no idea it was going to be this clean here in Seattle and have been impressed. In NYC, I would see a lot of them sometimes. Everything and everywhere feels so clean here. Even if someone keeps their house and kitchen messy they wont have to worry about things like roaches.

However, there are some small spiders I have seen here. But nothing like the spiders that can be found in places like Arizona, and Hawaii... I heard that there were rattlesnakes in Eastern Washington though. I never saw a mouse/rat here neither.

However, I guess some people who really hate cloudy weather will think the clouds here are as horrible as roaches, scorpions, alligators etc.

As mentioned above, you'll see some spiders and maybe a few slugs in the garden. But compared to other places in the country this area is pretty tame for bugs!

If you live near a body of water (river/lake), you will see rats. Just have a cat living nearby.

When I lived on Capitol Hill 32 years ago in a slummy apartment, it had roaches. Haven't seen any since, but they do exist. Rodents have been a problem for Seattle residents. Ten years ago or so there was a news story about rats entering houses in the very nice and expensive Laurelhurst area through the toilets.
And I've seen 'em frolicking near the shores of Puget Sound and Lake Washington.

There must be something for the spiders to eat!
