Thank you both for your insightful comments. I will look into it for sure. Experience is a must, and I don't mind working long hours or starting lower and demonstrating my ability, so hopefully I will be able to move up the ladder.

Citislicker - you're right. A lot of Americans are cutting back by traveling domestically which provides a boon to those working in hotels and local tourism. The riverboat industry is doing well because of this.

If you don't mind working long hours or starting lower, as well as working when people are traveling (holidays, summer, peak season, etc, think about the meaning of that to your family), I'm sure you will move up quickly. Good luck!
