Default Living in Kirkland vs Woodinville commute to Everett & Redmond

Hello,
We are new to the area - recently relocated from the east coast due to hubby's job (in Redmond).
We are looking to buy a house on the east side.
Currently we rent in Bothell -but the schools and commute are not as good as LWSD or BellevueSD or IssaquahSD.
I got a short term contract job in Everett, but hope to get a long term job in future in Bellevue.
We are considering Kirkland or Woodinville to buy a house, as being commutable to Bellevue is important too.
How do the two compare wrt schools & safe neighborhoods to raise family.

Any feedback on the different neighborhoods will help a lot.
