The Burgermaster on Holman Road (No longer there) used to have the best Swedish Pancakes. They served them with marionberries.

Have you eaten food in Scandinavia before? It's horrible.

If you're ever in Copenhagen, order "nachos" at any one of the cafes (they're served everywhere). Hilarity will ensue.

I would not judge Scandinavian food by the quality of nachos served there.

Scandivania offers some wonderful food...just stay away from the nachos!

I do wonder just how predominant the Scandinavian influence is here because not a lot of people here (well... maybe just the ones I know) seem to know what a lutefisk is. I had to learn about it from a Minnesotan friend.

I think most natives over forty would know what lutefisk is...I know I do.

Since when is 'nachos' considered to be part of Scandinavian cuisine?

He speaks the truth. I was in Copenhagen last year for the global climate change summit (1 year ago today, actually), and their takes on other types of cuisine is...pretty entertaining.

I've traveled the world extensively (including Denmark and the rest of the Scandanavian countries) previously, so I already knew what to expect of Denmark, but to people who are uninitiated to the "cuisine", it can be quite the jolt. I'm not surprised in the slightest that there's not a Scandanavian restaurant out here.

Those people make great desserts and pastries. Appetizers and entrees? Not so much. Most of that crap is vile.

The point is that you cannot judge a judge Scandanavian food by the quality of nachos served there.

Having lived in Scandanavia, ( Denmark and Sweden) for a total of five years I find the food to be quite good, including the appetizers and entrees.

As in most countries you have to know where to go, and stay away from tourist traps, etc.

Denmark is too small to have "tourist traps", etc. Everything worth trying there is near/around the Strogart. For the record, when I was there last year, I was staying waaaaay out in Helsinge because all the hotels within 30 miles of Copenhagen were booked. Trust me, the food was just as bad out there in farmville as it was in the city.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all bad. And some of it was really, really good (The Shawarma Grill House at the start of the Strogart comes immediately to mind, as do the beverages from Carlsen). But the majority of the truly Scandanavian dishes were disgusting, as is their take on things like Chinese food (I found some Chinese restaurant in Malmo that trip, for example, that used spaghetti noodles for lo mein)

There are many tourist traps in Denmark...but that is not the topic of this thread.

I've had some awful Chinese food in this country...so bad Chinese food isn't something found only in Denmark.

In the years that I spent there I can't think of any food that I found truly disgusting...
