Default Teaching Job Outlook for 2011/2012, Seattle area and suburbs?

Hi guys!

Moving to seattle in May! I will be endorsed in Elem ed. and special ed. also. I am making it out to Seattle this February to take my certification tests.

So can any of the locals let me know how the budget cuts are going in washington state? I am really nervous about moving, and also dont want to worry about the added stress of finding a job (especially being out of state)

any and all advice is appreciated

I believe WA, like most states, are making severe cuts to education right now. However, from what I know, special ed is a "hot" topic right now and many parts of the country are hiring for these types of positions.

What degree of experience do you have? The hard part will be that you'll be up against teachers with many, many years of experience. If you plan to move here without a job lined-up, make sure you're prepared to get a less desirable if something doesn't work out.

If you have a job now, I do suggest trying to find something first before quitting, unless you have a large savings in place to cover yourself.
