I'm 22, Asian, currently live in Bellevue and I'm currently jobless now. I need a job asap, but I have an employment gap from sept 2008 till march 2009. I got fired from my previous job at Taco Bell back in September of 2010 because I tried to call a day off but my manager wouldn't let me. Most of my previous work experiences are food-related like fast food worker at Taco Bell...etc. I've applied at Chipotle, Burger King and many other restaurants but with no good result. Any advice on how to find a job and keep it long?

Do you have strong references?

If so, you can omit the Taco Bell job and include the others. With this experience and your references, apply to every restaurant you see, especially those who advertise they are hiring.

If you don't have strong references, then start contacting former co-workers and supervisors who would provide a good reference for you.

Good luck.

Forget the Taco Bells and McDonalds. Lots of good asian resturants on the Eastside. Since you are asian you should have no problems getting a job with one of them since they should be rather partial in hiring an asian first. Start at the bottem as a bus boy or dish washer, work up to a waiter or bar tender. If you do well you could end up as manager.

Walk around your area and look for 'help wanted' signs posted in windows. They are less likely to have posted the opening online or in the paper, so there will be less people applying.

Also, hit Monster.com and read up on how to interview well, putting together an attractive resume, etc.

You might try Uwajimaya, they are hiring for the new store they are moving to in Bellevue off NE 8th by Home Depot.
