Looking to relocate to Seattle and based on "some" research, the lower Queen Anne area looks attractive. I will be working in Downtown Seattle. Any suggestions of condos or apartments to take a look at or avoid would be greatly appreciated. Budget $1500-$2000. Prefer 2 Br. but would consider large 1 Br. (1,000+ SF)

Any other neighborhoods/properties we should consider?

My current Second choice - may sound strange - is Bainbridge Island/Winslow.

Thanks for you help?

I don't think I've ever seen anyone post about two more disparate locations. Lower Queen Anne is densely populated with lots to do and you could walk/take transit to work.

Bainbridge is pretty but more rural and your transportation will be a ferry. You'll be spending $20k per year on this in after tax money. I'd check it out in person. Both places are nice places to live. Just very different.

If you live near the ferry dock in Bainbridge or a quick bus ride to the Bainbridge terminal, you could go as a foot passenger and not take a car. A monthly ferry pass costs about 90 dollars. It costs a lot more to bring a car, so most ferry commuters find a way to leave their car on the island.

What are you planning on doing? Taking a car on two round trips a day, every day? You still wouldn't get to $20,000 even if you did. If you're working downtown you won't need to bring you car. It will cost you $91 a month. Do realize you'll spend over an hour a day on that ferry, however. If you insist on driving it'll cost $24/day plus you'll spend another $20-30 to park in downtown Seattle (unless your employer pays for your parking). If they do, you could probably get them to pick up the ferry pass instead of providing a parking spot.

Several of my fellow employees live on Bainbridge or Poulsbo, and to them it's worth the ferry time for the quiet, slower lifestyle. They all walk or take the 99 bus to the terminal. It's actually 35 minutes on the ferry plus some wait time. There's a park & ride a few miles from the island Ferry Terminal with good bus service at that end.

When I worked on the Waterfront Streetcar ( the real 99 route), we carried a lot of Bainbridge commuters, and most of them were very happy living there.

Thanks for the insights. My main purpose for this post was actually to try to find the best options for rent in the Lower Queen Anne area.

I saw the postings on the Cobb, MT and Olivia.

I'm not too familiar with lower Queen Anne, sorry. I remember it as being mostly smaller buildings. I don't think there's anything like the Cobb and certainly not like the Olivian or any of the new luxury buildings that are in the downtown area. Lower Queen Anne is nice because it's a bit more quiet than downtown buildings like the Cobb, Olivian, MT, Aspira, etc etc.

I guess there's Archstone and 2900 on First... can't think of any buildings...
