"Well, looks like a crazy person will be our next next-door-neighbor. "
How much you want to bet he says exactly the same thing about you?

Are you sure he got that much? Wait and check the county records after it closes.

Seconded. Maybe someone was flipping it because it's in "desirable" Capitol Hill.

I did my detective work. Looks like Vinylly's neighbor's house sold a year ago as a major fixer for over 700,000. It's 3200 square feet, and built in 1910. I'd be really surprised if ended up selling for 1.3 million. Hasn't closed yet.
I'm not going to state the location, to protect Vinylly from having us all drop in on him for tea and cookies, but let's just say it's on a very nice street on North Capitol Hill, not far from where Benson's Pharmacy used to be. Nice old houses on North Capitol Hill and the top of Queen Anne aren't selling for what they did four years ago, but they still cost a fortune. There aren't a lot of houses like it, old, pretty, renovated houses, and there don't need to be. The vast majority of buyers out there can't afford homes like that, but it only takes one. It's funny, though. There's a bunch of brand new 800,000 dollar + homes for sale on the east side, and they're just sitting unsold.

Hmmmm...., Well, the previous owner bought the house for $24,000. So, I wonder who's crazy around here.
