So, I know that in Issaquah Highlands all the homes are built "green". Are there any other communities on the Eastside that are also green? Just wondering.

V. =)

There are many, like the little cottages in Redmond.

There's a builtgreen website, but the easiest thing is to see the Sunday Times new home ads and look for the builtgreen logo.

So "Built Green" means to completely deforest the top of a hill, build a bunch of huge houses with small yards on it, and allow all the resulting silt to wash into neighboring rivers.

I mean, I'm glad they made the effort: its better than nothing. But really, the greenest home you can buy is the one that's already been built.

LOL When you put it that way, it takes all the joy out of it.

Aw, sorry. I just hear a lot of Issaquah old-timers who hate the ruined view and the extra traffic.

It is ironic, we used to see woods on the hill on the way home toward Issaquah, now it's a leveled off mass of lights, but there are green built. The real shame is that it was supposed to be an urban village where people could work and live in the same place and walk a lot, but it's anything but.
