Default horse properties in the area?

My wife is a court administrator and has been applying for jobs in the area. I have family in Bellingham but we don't need to be too close. 2 or 3 hours is fine.

We're curious how difficult it is to find horse properties in the area? We would like something outside of the city with a few acres minimum. We would like to have a big garden, some chickens, and maybe a few cows. I say "horse property" because something with an existing barn/outbuildings would be great.

A 30-ish minute commute is fine although it's difficult to pin down since we don't have a job location yet. We're kind of just exploring the possibilities. We're currently waiting to hear back about a job in Everett.

I think it would pretty easy, especially up near Everett. I would look in the Stanwood area, Snohomish too. Woodinville is as far away from Everett as you'd want to go but I think you'll have great luck up there!

I got the perfect suggestion for you. Lots of 'horse property' Just North of Everett around Marysville. There are some beautiful places North of Everett.

I remember seeing some farm-ranch properties around Lake Stevens, which is east of Everett. Might be a little bit of a commute but I think the area around there would be what you're looking for.

The closest to Seattle are in Bellevue, Sammamish and Issaquah, but they go fast and you will have to spend 1.5 million+. The mot affordable are in Monroe, Duvall, Carnation, and also many closer to Bellingham in the Mt. Vernon/Sedro Woolley area.

Marysville is horrible and the commute to Everett can be a nightmare. Stanwood and Arlington are nicer, but even worse from the commute standpoint.

If you are going to work in Everett I would look at Lake Stevens and even out to Monroe. Or you could look in the Mukilteo or Mill Creek area and even down to Edmonds. I think Brier and Lynnwood still have some rural areas too but your commute would be longer.

I think you are better off heading south of Everett than north (even though you have folks in Bellingham).

South Issaquah/East renton highlands the May Valley area has many equestrian properties and is within 20 miles of downtown Seattle. Prices are very affordable, 2+acres from in the mid 500's, properties with barns. 7 to10 minutes to I-90, the main East West route through the state. Everett may be close but it can take up to an hour to get downtown during rush hour. My business partner lives near green lake north of downtown and I can make it in 40 minutes.

And that's a really pretty area too, just south of Cougar Mountain and Squak Mountain...Close to Issaquah and Renton with all the shopping and dining there, but definitely in the country. Lovely area.

Out near Snohomish and Snoqualmie areas there's plenty of land. The bad economic times have bode well for buyers too.

Bridle Trails State Park in Bellevue is almost 500 acres of horse trails, and many of the properties in the eponymous surrounding neighborhood have stables and grazing. If it fits your budget then it looks like a great place to keep horses.
