Default OMG I just saw the price of gas in Seattle.......

I looked on some site to compare gas prices and it says that gas currently in Seattle is 3.87 a gallon?????????????????? It is 3.15 a gallon here! Holy hell. My husband travels A LOT for his job because of the nature of his work and we are moving there in a few weeks..was considering living up North but considering the cost of gas and the commute I am wondering if we shouldn't just pay more expensive rent..

Can you guys share average cost for things around there? I just want to get an ideal of what things cost things like milk, bread you know staples...

I think I might be in sticker shock there

That sounds about right. It's about $3.60-$3.87ish here in Bellingham, which is just North of Seattle. Actually I would have expected Seattle to be higher than $3.87.

Where is here? What car does your husband drive? You should also know that you'll spend a very large portion of that expensive gas idling in traffic and at stop lights.

Our gas probably costs the same as wherever "here" is - it's the state taxes that drive up the price. So you can't just look at gas prices as indicator of COL.

I always gas up in Renton ... for some reason, it seems to always have the lowest price. Even the Safeway on Rainier is usually cheaper than the Safeway a few miles to the north in Rainier Beach.

2nd highest gas tax in the nation behind California will do that. It's part of the shell game to provide revenue in lieu of a state income tax without actually making it any cheaper to live.

Washington state is in a hole budget wise. It's great your husband will be using a lot of gas as we need your tax money. How soon can you get here?
