Then we went to Chicago in June. The day before we arrived, it was over 90 degrees and crazy humid. If I had my way, we would be moving to Austin Texas and having a small vacation condo in Seattle for a getaway to beat the heat, since I prefer to be in 85 degrees or warmer. Won't be happening, but might be for the better. Not sure my sarcasm would go over as well there.

It cracks me up when people think we're so tatooed and pierced out here. Do you get that from pictures or experience? I don't notice an abnormal amount, but maybe I'm just used to it.
Hey Rusting,

Your too cute!!!! I know the weather is really getting on your nerves but trust me when I tell you that there are worse things in life to worry about...... although I can't think of to many right now for you!!!. You know, it must be a great job being a meteorologist...... you can be wrong 80% of the time and still have gainful employment!!!!!

If you really want a "sun" fix try a vacation to South Florida during the winter months where it is normally perfect weather and only in the high 70's. If you want it really hot then go during the summer when Satan has fun torturing people with skin cancer while they are in the shade.

If you like it warm, sunny, peaceful, and tranquil while collecting seashells, go to the Southwest coast like (Naples, Sanibel Island, Cape Coral). Go to the Florida Keys if you are into skin or scuba diving, fishing, drinking and listen to constant Jimmy Buffet music, you will get all the sun sand and hangovers that you can handle. if you like it spicy with the latin salsa action then go to the Southeast coast of Miami....South Beach "Art Deco District" in particular, (Nice shopping and cool place if you are into people watching), If you like especially like loud obnoxious Rap music with interspersed gunfire and dodging bullets then go during "Urban Beach Weekend" (normally held during memorial day weekend when the normally sane people totally avoid that area or wear body armor for sun protection).

As far as tattoo's or piercings, half shaved colored heads, etc., I really do not care how people look, it is their behavior that defines my respect for them just as my behavior should define how I am respected by others. Now, I am not an old fart or prude by any stretch of the imagination and I have my fair share of "ink" on me but I truly believe that a natural woman is a beautiful woman.... but again that is just me. I try not to judge people unless I catch them in the commission of a felony.

Have a great night,

Martin

Rusting, are you why we're having such a cloudy summer? I wouldn't want to live in any part of Texas if they gave me the place for free. Maybe it's because I work in a corporate environment but I don't know anyone with tattoos. At least not ones I can see.

Yup. My bad. :-)

@ Trail-Walker - I went to Ft Lauderdale for the first time in January. It was a bit cool for me, but you know, my bad weather karma was chillin' it out down there. I'm thinking I need to come visit sometime between winter and Satan.

Now I'm thinking of squatting in one of your foreclosures until I get my fill of sun! Worst case scenario, I chase Satan away and you guys get a break. If I can cool down FL in the middle of summer, I know I'll have a chance at making a living with my bad juju all over the East!

If the people of Seattle have your good natured sense of humor, we will get along wonderfully.

I know you have been through a couple of bad winters/summers but tell your spouse that if he values your marriage and "his" sanity, he will take you on a sunny vacation. People normally think that "the grass is greener" on the other side of the fence but it rarely is. I have found the people of the PNW to be more educated, slightly more sophisticated, a little snobby but not "stuck up", just genuine nice people. Sure beats the people of SE Florida. If you look at an Atlas of the US you will see that Florida is shaped like a p-e-n-i-s, that should give you an indication of the behavior of many of the people that live here and one of the reasons why I am so desperate to leave.

Kind regards!!!

I lived in Waikiki for a little bit and felt really bad for the people who came there on vacation during the occasional periods of heavy rain that would last days. Sorry to hear that you were one of them. Your safest bet is a vacation to SoCal. I lived in Fort Hood, TX for 6 years. It's just an hour North of Austin. 6th Street is a major reason why I could never run for office....anywhere. Can't you find someplace that isn't so freakin humid? The way I see it, Austin is just as wet as Seattle. The only difference is that in Seattle, the wet is from the mizzle. In Austin, it's from profuse perspiration that doesn't evaporate.

@ Caraway - LOL! That's hilarious! Yes, SoCal has the most perfect climate, however everyone knows it so it's just too freakin' expensive to live there. I know I'm suffering from Greener Grass syndrome, but at least Austin only has to deal with major heat less than 6 months out of the year. If I hadn't shut my heater off in my house, it would be on year round this year! Plus I run cold, so I wouldn't even begin to suffer until it's in the mid to high 90's with humidity (although, don't they have this fancy thing called A/C down there?). I'm the person who goes outside at work on a hot day to warm up because I think that the A/C is too cold (I just requested a heater for under my desk yesterday, because I had to wear my down vest all day at work).

I've actually gone running in 115 degree heat in Vegas before and hung out in Chicago and New Orleans in the 100's. I'm disappointed when I go on a sunny vacation and the forecast is lower than 85 degree temps. But, alas, I'm am only one person in a family of four and the rest of my family doesn't crave hot weather the way I do, so I'm willling to suffer for my family :-). (she says on a nice sunny day...)

@everygray - Good luck with the weather! I hope it's nice and sunny and warm for you the whole time! Where are you moving to when you leave Seattle?

I am most likely moving to Seattle next year from SoCal. I need my lush green "fix"....along with some good fishing. I can most definitely tell you that houses are not more expensive everywhere in SoCal. I currently live in a great little family town called Temecula. It's also a neat little wine town with over 30 wineries. You can buy a large and nice home in a great neighborhood for 300K and less. There are a little more than 30 days a year with temps 100+ though. Other than that the weather is great. I'm not trying to get you to move to SoCal, just pointing out that it's not all expensive. And in Temecula's case it's both inexpensive and nice. In fact, that's why I'll likely keep my house when we move. Temecula is too good a town for what you pay. Good schools, extremely safe, great family area, wineries, hills, etc. It should be more expensive than it is. I'm thinking it will end up that way. It will also be nice to know that if Seattle doesn't work out, I still have a nice place to return to.

I'm fairly certain that if I could drag the Puget Sound, a couple rivers with salmon, the Olympics, and more of this color they call green down from Seattle and place it near me in Temecula I'd stay here.

Good luck with that. The sun comes out for about 3 hours here if you're near the coast. This weekend should be better but then right back to the cloudiness. I like it though.

Temecula, hmmm... I'll be checking it out. Thanks for the tip! My goal was to be able to rely on one income, which we can't do in Seattle. Not positive it can be done in Austin either, but we'd have a better chance. The weather sounds heavenly!
