Today we had a beautifully sunny day. Too bad I was inside at work all day, and by the time I was off at 6 the sun had long been set.

Ha ha - sun in Seattle! Here in sunny Southern California it's grey, cool, and drizzling - and it's going to stay that way for the next 4 or 5 days...

Today was a beautiful but cold sunny day.

I always noticed living in Seattle and being from Calif. A beautiful summy day in Seattle was a rainy day in Calif, and a Sunny day in Calif was a stormy day in Seattle.

Like we swap weather.

Last week in Seattle I had MANY friends that were getting flooded houses. That same day we had 64 degrees and sunny, gorgeous.

Yes, it seems like whenever the whole country has horrible weather, the Northwest has pleasant weather.

Anyway, in the Seattle area, half of its annual precipitation falls in December and January and other half falls throughout the rest of the year, but it is typically light and constant; the constant part is why people think it always rains or why it rains so much here.

Summers in Seattle are beautiful; this is when dealing with the rain pays off. But shh! Try not to tell too many people about the truth of Seattle weather. We don't want a lot of people moving up here; we don't want Washington to become another California.

I think most transplants have more issues with the lack of light, and dark cloudy days versus the amount of rain. And the fact that summer sometimes doesn't really come and it stays cool.

It's probably been said here already, but in summer Seattle's days (sunrise to sunset) are longer than Cali's. So I guess that makes up for the dark days in winter ... well, I dunno. Come May or June we'll be starting to get some of the best weather on earth.

I think I have mentioned it. Or maybe not. But that is true. Seattle's lofty latitude makes for longer days in the summer and much shorter days in the winter.

Visited Reykjavik this month and now I don't think of Seattle winter days as short anymore.

After spending most of the last dozen winters in Cleveland, Ohio, Seattle winter seems heavenly so far. Good thing I didn't move here from San Diego.
