Geeky couple moving to southern King County in May.
Wondering what the local nerd hot spots are :-)
What are the best comic shops, sci fi conventions, etc.

We would like to find a D&D, Board Gaming, Magic, and/or L5R group at some point.

I've been researching the many sci fi and anime conventions in the area (not a lot of those in Kansas, unfortunately).

What are the local favorites?

Liberty Cafe in downtown Renton has a weekly Magic the gathering night, I believe on Thursdays. Good place with good coffee even if you're not a geek or gamer.

I highly recommend a visit to The Mox in Ballard. Regular gaming groups, you can reserve tables and entire rooms, they have a game store full of board games and RPG's (+ minatures) and then they have an attached food/bar area with large tables and food service. The menu is small, but the food is good.

This is what I was going to recommend. It's gamer heaven!

Places:

AFK Tavern in Everett is also decent.

Uncle's Games inside Crossroads Shopping Center is next to a large cafeteria type area where you will find dozens of your fellow zombies on Friday evenings.

Conventions:

Biggest convention is PAX, which has 50k attendees or so and is the biggest in the nation per the below article.

Game on: Thousands in Seattle for nation's largest gaming convention | KING5.com Seattle

Dragon Flight in Bellevue is good too.
