Default Help With Apartment in Seattle

Hi everyone,
I was hoping that someone here would know about this area, i'm looking at these apartments called the Willows Court and the address is 12316 28TH AVE NE, my husband and I are sure we want to move to seattle next year but we are both college students and do not have a very high income so we are looking for affordable apartments in areas that are somewhat close to downtown, have easy access to public transportation and are pretty safe. So i was wondering if anyone knows about the area where these apartments are or has seen them and what they could tell me.
Thanks so much.

Seattle is a most fantastic city, in that nearly everything you need to learn about the city is already on the internet.

The neighborhood is called "Lake City". You can read about it here:

Lake City, Seattle, Washington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And here:

Outer limits: The Lake City blog

As far as transportation is concerned, go here:

Trip Planning

To find out what buses go to downtown, you can use the following intersection as a destination: "3rd and Pike".

To find out what buses go to the University District (assuming that you would be going to school at the UW, if not, let me know), use the following intersection: "45th and University".

I don't find myself in that part of the world too often, so hopefully someone else can give you more of a skinny on the place.

Good luck!

I am not sure about those apartments but I know I stayed at a friends a few months ago about 15 blocks to the north and it was rough. The apartments he lived in were newer (but had very stained carpet and scraped up walls in the common areas) but the neighborhood was like nothing I have ever experienced. All night long people were walking the streets, yelling, talking, etc. And I mean ALL night. It was a weeknight! I was afraid my car would be gone in the morning. There were a lot of smaller apartment complexes in the neighborhood.

The friend I stayed with did go to the UW and took the bus most of the time, so I think there is a direct connection from the Lake City Way route.

I know further south where the apartments you are inquiring about has had a bit more development. I would just say look at the surrounding neighborhood. If it looks unkept there might be problems. But of course most people probably live in Lake City because of the affordability. So you have to weigh the options.
