I wish it was only three months. It starts getting hot in April and doesn't let up at all until mid to late October. I guess it does dip down to the mid 80s (but that's still friggin hot). Yuck!

Ness Knows I used to live in hot weather - so I love it. And my whole family (on Dad's side) is from the South (Alabama and Georgia), and I know exactly what the summers are like! Love it there too

I swear on all that is holy, I will gladly trade places with you. At this point, the thought of Florida sinking into the abyssal depths of the ocean puts a wide smile on my face.
I had to leave work today because I almost passed out (I walk to work from class). My boyfriend and I are college students, and we have a few more years here. The thought of sustaining just ONE more summer here (and remember, the summer lasts about 10 months here!) makes me want to curl up in a fetal position and weep.

Hang in there, Brizacat. Only a couple of more months before you can turn off the AC! We lived in central FL for years, and usually it cooled down enough in early November to open the windows again--if they weren't still boarded up from hurricane season! We're living in the westsound area now and looking forward to our first PNW winter. We've visited this area many times in the winter, but never lived here so I'll have more credibility by next June. I think it's been wonderful so far this summer!

Just like some of Pwrights photos are at one end of the spectrum, these are at the other.
Check out Pwrights thread here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/seatt...d-seattle.html
Look at the pictures that have a high, white ceiling of clouds with or without water on the ground. This is what you will see through much of October-May. You will also see days like those pictured at the beginning of this thread (sometimes for a few days at a time) but it would be dishonest to say that it is like that for 9 months.

thanks for the clarification toughguy. that was my impression as well from talking with friends who live in the south sound area. they said that the gray is usually high in the sky and not necessarily a dark low blanket.

Hey, those initial pics look pretty sweet to me.. Even today with the mostly cloud cover and the rain we got last night works for me.. Gonna be close to 80 in a couple days and stay that way through the weekend... Fine, whatever, just get through this and let's get back to fall weather. Can't wait till the norm is 60 or so..
And this coming from a 35 year SoCal resident.. I saw all the temps down in Riverside and vicinity the last week... Yikes, screw all that.. The wife and I don't miss that AT ALL...

I thought alot today about my probable move to Seattle. These pictures helped out alot! Just the wet ones don't bother me. The harder rain shots from inside the car were a little scary. 10 months? WOW!!
But I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) its just grey alot. Dark and grey with drizzle, ALOT of drizzle. For the past 10 years or so I look forward to the fall when we turn our clocks back! I enjoy the shorter days! Having it get dark at 4:30-4:45 is nice. Now throw in the darkness of being cloudy all the time and I can see how you guys say its dark at 4:00.
Not everyone is happy there because of this weather. But those people are not alone, as you can see from posts above. There are unhappy people in every type of climate out there, its just some people are willing to make a huge move to erase that unhappyness. Not everyone can, but if your really that unhappy theres always a way. Where theres hope, theres a way!!
