Keep in mind: people rarely ever take the time to post positive reviews about apartments. There's a lots of apartment in that area... and it's a big area. My DH purposely chose to live closer to Edmonds because it was more quiet and better traffic (than it would be closer to Alderwood Mall).

Just make sure to:
*See that its not *on* hwy 99 (a block away or more from hwy 99 would be better)
*Visit in person, which also will help you grab a feel for the management

When my wife and I moved here to the Lynnwood area two years ago we lived for a while in the Northern Lights Apartments in Mountlake Terrace (right on the dividing line between Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood). It is an older complex (built in 1980, I believe) that is kept up well with some nice amenities such as workout room, hot tub, etc. The management there are very nice and it seemed like a calm, peaceful complex- never had issues with noise or any overall craziness. We had a 2 bedroom/1 bath for $750 per month. It was just a couple minutes to the freeway as well as Alderwood Mall.
