Hi, my husband and I are seriously thinking of moving to the Bellevue/East Side area and would like to know if there are any neighborhoods there where kids go out and play regularly with other neighborhood kids. We're currently in Hawaii and lived in Japan before that and we always saw children playing in the neighborhoods. We noticed that whenever we visit our relatives in Seattle, there were hardly any that did so. Our kids are in elementary school. Your input would be MUCH appreciated!

While I lived in the Issaquah Highlands, there was a park across the street, and there were always kids in it from all over the neighborhood. It was one of the things I really liked about the neighborhood.

I see kids playing in the central Bellevue park all the time, right by the mall.

I also see kids playing in the parks along / near I-90, where there's a bike trail and preserved fields and wetlands.

So yes, there are children playing in Bellevue .

Here in Sammamish you often see kids playing in the street on cul-de-sacs, riding tricycles or bikes, or playing street hockey or soccer. often parent put up those yellow a-frame signs top warn motorists but there is very little traffic in the residential neighborhoods. When they gt a little older they often go in small groups to the nearby school or park and people don't seem to worry about them getting into trouble.

Where I have seen the most kids playing together is Klahanie, which is unincorporated Issaquah on the Plateau between the Highlands and Sammamish. There are many parks, trails, schools, and community pools.
