Okay so hubby and I are flying out for a week in April. Can anyone tell me how to find the repo'ed homes in Seattle area? Wonder if I can find a cheaper home that way. I guess the prices are scaring me even though my dh has tried to convience me we will be fine.

Compared to many areas of the country, the number of foreclosures in this area is relatively low, and they tend to be mostly concentrated in
areas that are not very desirable. Any good realtor will have access to the lists.

One way to find bank owned foreclosures online is to go to redfin.com. ( I don't work for them, just like their website's user friendliness). Once there, you can put in the area, price range, number of bedrooms, etc. Then, click on "more options". This allows you to specify if you're looking for a house or condo or raw land, etc. Under the "more options" is "include". Click on that, and then unclick everything clicked except "MLS listed foreclosures".
While Hemlock is right that there are more foreclosures in areas considered less desirable, you'd be surprised at where they do pop up. There are million dollar plus foreclosures on Mercer Island, and very expensive and less expensive foreclosures in Bellevue, Kirkland, Sammamish, Redmond, and Issaquah, as well as the places you'd think they'd be like South Seattle, Renton, Sea-Tac, Skyway, etc. There may be fewer foreclosures in this part of the country than in other places, but there's a ton more than there were even a couple of years ago, and they're all over the place. In the Seattle area, they range from under 100,000 dollars in places like Sea-Tac and Skyway to well over a million.

Check out the these sites:

Fannie Mae : homepath.com
Freddie Mac : homesteps.com
HUD: hudhomestore.com
You may still need a realtor to view these homes.
