I'm having a tough time ballparking an average annual homeowner's insurance rate for the Seattle area. I'm looking at newer (built within the last 5 years or so) homes in Issaquah highlands, that are about 1500-2000 square feet. I don't really know what to expect in the way of annual homeowner's/property insurance rates. Anyone have any familiarity with what homeowner's insurance rates are like in the Seattle area in general?? Are they on the high side? Average? Are rates for townhouses & condos cheaper or more expensive than single family homes??

I live in Indiana & pay about $600 a year on insurance for a new, 2200 square foot home on a big lot. I'm potentially relocating to Seattle area in the spring, which is why I'm asking... If it is nothing astronomical, then I won't worry about figuring that into my monthly housing costs if I get the opportunity to buy.

Thanks!
